At GI Joburg, we pride ourselves on our originality. So for our 88th mission, we bring you a special on 1988! We talk the toys, the concepts, the characters. With no 'toon to back it up, who were these guys? What world called for Cobranauts, hostile environment troopers, and mutant frogmen? GI Joe was dropping big bombs and Destro was into something DEMONic. It was an interesting time.
We kick it off with our definitive Iron Grenadier picks. 'Cos, what else?

A simple head swap on Shockwave and you got a Solidu Snakeu. Use the head from 2001 Leatherneck and put a little blue bandana and maybe a slight black wash on his jawline for stubble.

I'm looking at the Nullifier pilot figure and I'm seeing it as an obvious Scarif Trooper influence. The mouth/snout the tan and red. And the visor looks like a Praetorian Guard from TLJ. I think Hasbro designed the troopers or someone at LFL was playing with Joe's while half plagiarizing their designs. 🤔
