Saturday Oct 27, 2018
Saturday Oct 27, 2018
So our buddy and customizer extraordinaire Jim Godfrey had a chance meet up with Bob Brechin of Palitoy fame. Bob was there in the heydays of Action Man, and was the man chiefly responsible for the initial 1/18 scale Action Force figures. Naturally a full-blown, Full-Force discussion of those awesome oddities from the Island Nation follows as we get into some of Jim's most beloved British action figures and vehicles!

On storm shadow v2's backpack, the first one looks like a set of nunchuks. And the others also look like repeats of this sculpt detail, but why would he have so many Chuck's? So I assume the lower ones are explosives, arrows, or a chain ladder. The file cards quote also talks about a scaling grapple so I'm leaning toward this being something related to infiltration like a ladder or bombs.

Sitting at my computer, I have over 100 figures and vehicles within arm's reach. You think Paul's list is long? 😎🍻🇺🇸🇿🇦🇬🇧

The sneak attack set is for modern Navy/Air Force enlisted. That color of camo is similar to the modern Navy/Air Force camo and the way the rise figures had a lot of that camo just makes me think it's to promote that camo pattern and to catch the eyes of enlisted collectors.

It was the best of times it was the worst if times. It was the 80's-90's. 🍻

Stephen, it's not a doll if you can't brush its hair. 😎

And yeah, Stephen's right that those 89's Joe's weapons still don't have the sculpt details that those palitoy figure's weapons have. I just disagree that Marauder's didn't outside palitoy. Of course Marauder's is one of the best now. And Has to has made many rifles and pistols with just as good a sculpt for the new sculpt era and modern figures.

Hit and runs gun is an M4 with 9mm rounds I think. At least the magazine looks like a 9mm mag.

I disagree that these palitoy guns are better than Marauder's. But they are nicer than Hasbro guns from that era. But Hasbro did perfect guns during the new sculpt era. I remember that one Gung Ho has an M4 with extending stock, removable grenade launcher, and removable silencer. And the details on the sculpt of the gun are just as good as these palitoy Ines.

I'm with Paul on the Corps connection. The first thing I thought of looking at the Jeep was the 90's grey and black camo corps Jeep.

I'm looking at that site bftb and these toys are great. I wish the us toy makers would have brought the UK palitoy stuff here. And it would be cool if all this were to be re-released today. Thanks for sharing this site. 🍻👍👍
