GI Joburg Episode 129: Duke VS Flint!
Thursday Oct 11, 2018
Thursday Oct 11, 2018
We've got long-time listener and pal Dave Cabal on this episode! The topic? Dave's of the opinion that it's Flint calling the shots on the GI Joe team, NOT DUKE! WHAAAAAT?!? But hear the man out, he may have some arguements that surprise us all.
We discuss fanatasy film castings for everyone's favourite black beret-wearing baddass and climb into a nostalgia topic that asks: if we could go back in time and re-live our childhood with our Joe toys would we do anything differently?

See, I think the reason you read anti establishment into Joe's is that you yourself don't like authority figures like Duke or Cyclops. Not that you can't think what you want. Just pointing out an angle as an outside observer.

I even think the Zartan being president in the film is a reference to Obama being anti American.

For me Joe has always been a patriotic American franchise and it was trying to show the world the good sides of America. And showing that patriotism is a good thing when you're in the right country. America has only sucked since Reagan left office. Trump is trying to revert us back to that and the media is so ISIS at this point that they'll never stop crying about anything he does.

Fortnite already rips off a bunch of Joe characters. Check out Raptor, Havoc, and Toxic Trooper.

Lol that isn't the show being anti establishment, it's the show saying there are leftists that think like that. That's why anyone who was anti Joe in the show is considered a bad guy or unpatriotic. 🇺🇸

The cartoon wasn't anti government/authority. It was pointing out how the left wants to defend the military most likely since it was made under the Reagan admin. And most of the time there was a Cobra agent disguised as a military official so you were hearing a cobra's pov.

GI Joe isn't slightly anti authority, Hama is. 😄

I'm with Stephen, fuck statues. And 5poa might as well be an articulated statue. I need Joe articulation or higher. Anything less is pointless.
